Saban Denies Netflix Exclusivity for 24th Power Rangers Season

Production company refutes claim that series will move from Nickelodeon to Netflix

Saban Brands told the entertainment news website Den of Geek on Wednesday that "there is no accuracy to the report that Power Rangers is moving exclusively to Netflix in 2017." The film news website Collider had reported last Saturday that the 24th season of the Power Rangers series will move away from Nickelodeon and debut as a Netflix exclusive title in 2017.
Nickelodeon has aired Power Rangers since its return to television in 2011 and is currently airing Power Rangers Dino Charge. The 22nd season is based on Toei's Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger series. Saban Brands'agreements with Nickolodeon and Bandai America will continue until 2016.
The Shuriken Sentai Nin'ninger special-effects series premiered in February, and marks the 40th anniversary of Toei's Super Sentai franchise. The story takes place after The Last Ninjer sealed away all the yōkai in the world. This lasted until The Last Ninjer's death, when the yōkai returned. His descendants, five cousins, battle the yōkai as the Nin'ninger.
Power Rangers film is slated for January 13, 2017. Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is on board to direct the film. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the Power Rangers script. The two writers previously wrote the X-Men: First Class and Thor films. Saban BrandsBrian Casentini and Lionsgate's Allison Shearmur are producing the film.
The film project previously cast Becky Gomez as the Yellow Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger.
