The Silver Guardian Anime Gets Season 2 in January

Announced after season 1 finale on Saturday

Production on a second season of The Silver Guardian (Gin no Guardian), Haoliners Emon's anime of the Chinese web comic Yín Zhī Shǒu Mù Rén, has been green-lit for a January 2018 premiere. The 12th and final episode of the first season aired on Saturday, and the anime's official website will provide more information on the new season in the future.
The anime premiered on Tokyo MX1 on April 1. Each episode is 15 minutes long. Crunchyroll has been streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and Funimation began streaming an English dub on May 3.
Crunchyroll describes the story:
The protagonist, Riku Suigin is a pro-level gamer. The heroine, Riku Rei, knows of this and is the most beautiful girl in school and also loves video games. Suigin receives a device to play a net game called “Grave Buster” from Rei, but Rei is suddenly kidnapped. When Rei puts his hand on the device, he's sucked into the world of the game. And in that world, a battle between the tomb raiders and tomb protectors for the tomb of the mother goddess Bango's tomb has been going on for 1000 years.
Masahiko Ohkura (YukikazeBlue Drop) directed the first season at Haoliners Emon, and also handled the series scripts alongside Hidefumi Kimura (Uta∽KataKiddy Grade). Yoshiaki Tsubata (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~) designed the characters and served as chief animation director. Minako Seki (both seasons of Kingdom) composed the music.
The original Chinese web comic Yín Zhī Shǒu Mù Rén has more than 418 million views since March 2016. The anime project was first revealed in December 2015 as Emon Animation Company's first anime project.
