Kamen Rider Gaim actor Mahiro Takasugi plays main character in adaptations of series that began in 2003
The Shishō (Master Teacher) series, a series of supernatural novels posted on the internet forum2channel (2chan) by author Uni is inspiring a live-action film, live-action drama, and TV anime series in 2016 as part of a larger project. The live-action film will be a hybrid of both live-action and anime.
18-year old actor Mahiro Takasugi (Kamen Rider Gaim) will serve as the project's image character. The actor commented on his role in the project, saying, “I'm very happy I can be this project'simage character, since it combines both anime and live-action."
The project was announced with a promotional video:
Atsushi Shimizu (Nana to Kaoru live-action film) will serve as director on the project, and Chiaki Konaka (Serial Experiments Lain, Magic User's Club) will provide the scripts. Kinji Yoshimoto will serve as animation director at animation Studio Pierrot Plus. Naoyuki Asano is designing the characters, and Studio Easter is providing the backgrounds. Shintaro Nozaki is credited as animation production producer, and Yuzo Hayashi will compose the music.
