Series about girl who turns into zombie went on hiatus in April 2013
The February issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Shoko Conami will resume her Shikabane Cherry manga with the sixth chapter in the next issue on February 6. Conami had announced on her blog in October that the resumption date had been set.
Conami's series has been on hiatus due to her health since the May 2013 issue of Monthly Princess published the fifth chapter on April 6. Conami had just resumed the series in February of that year after a hiatus due to her illness. Conami had been hospitalized three times in September and October 2012. On September 3, she was hospitalized for extreme anemia. On September 5, she suffered a heart attack and was forced to undergo immediate surgery. Then on October 1, she had surgery to completely remove endometrial cancer (cancer in the uterus). She was then released from the hospital on October 10.
Conami began serialization on Shikabane Cherry in Akita Shoten'sMonthly Princess magazine in July 2012. The romantic comedy tells the story of a girl who decides to take a large quantity of secret medicine after falling ill before an important date. Though the medicine is supposed to keep her cells fresh, she realizes that it has stopped her heart, making her into a zombie.
Conami serialized her 13-volume Shinobi Life manga from 2006-2012.Tokyopop published seven volumes in North America before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011.
