Space Godzilla, Mecha King Ghidorah, Super Mecha Godzilla, more in July 16 game
Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming the second promotional video for the Godzilla VSaction game for PlayStation 4 on Thursday.
The narrator notes that all monsters will be playable, and trailer previews the roster: Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mecha Godzilla, Hedorah, Biollante, Destoroyah, Gigan, Godzilla (from Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures' 2014 film), Mothra, Jet Jaguar, Super Mecha Godzilla, MFS-3, Space Godzilla, and Mecha King Ghidorah.
The trailer also highlights the online mode and possible battle scenarios: the battle from Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-out Attack, a battle between different MechaGodzillas, and a battle to be the King of the Monsters.
Godzilla VS. will be a one-player game, but with a two-player online mode. As a monster of their choice, players can destroy the streets and humanity's weapons, as well as other monsters. The game features melee battles of up to three monsters.
The game will "make landfall on July 16" in Japan. The game will include a bonus unlock code for the black-and-white "Showa mode" and a bonnus special Gacha medal for the Godzilla Kaijū Collection smartphone app.
The earlier version of Bandai Namco's latest Godzilla game shipped for PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2014. The company announced it will release Godzilla for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America this summer.
Evangelion director Hideaki Anno is the chief director and writer of TOHO's upcoming Godzilla film, the first new Japanese one in the franchise in 12 years. Shinji Higuchi, the director of Japan Sinks,Nobō no Shiro, and the upcoming live-action Attack on Titan films, is directing the new film and serving as special effect director as well.
Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures' Hollywood film opened last year.
